Hello friends,

Some of you may remember our ‘Gilly Shedden’ who famously got married at Beatle Week a few years ago!

Sadly, in 2006 Gilly was under-going cancer treatment for the third time but despite this she never gave up and NEVER stopped smiling.

 At one of our Fab 4 Fundraising events she met Tom who is Head of Fund-raising for the Linda McCartney Centre and through him we heard about the Field of Women Event which is taking place in a couple of weeks time in Liverpool.

 The initial idea is for 10,000 people to stand together, in a field, to form the shape of a woman called LUCY.  LUCY stands for ‘Listen up, Check Yourself’, and the objective of this event is to show the world that we are united against the disease and to show support for those who are suffering.  Of course there is the money issue too. All donations raised at the event will be sent to the Linda Mc Centre to fund the well-being of cancer patients.

Later in 2006, Gilly died.  I can’t tell you how this made me feel.  I saw her suffer through her smiles and she passed away hopefully to something better.  Afterwards, I remembered the event and her words came back to me:

She laughed the laugh we all loved and declared “I’ll be there with you in the field, wearing my pink poncho and waving my hands in the air!”

Well I am not going to let her down, so that is what we will do.  Without a doubt she will be there with me in my thoughts and heart as I will stand alongside many others who have been through similar situations.  Please, please do one of the following to help:

·        Help me raise a GRAND!!!!!!!!!!!!  PLEASE make a donation - £5 is the minimum you can submit online and my estimation tells me I need 200 people to give £5 so I can achieve my target.
