Show presenter/Compiler Pete Dicks reports that the suggestion
that `Adopt a Minefield' be involved came from a listener and Pete
was happy to do so, as one of his friends lost a leg in Vietnam due
to a mine.
`Adopt a Minefield' has agreed to contribute in promoting the CD, as
has 'Diabetes UK' - see their websites! The CD, now available,

Pete Dicks:Born in Lozells, Birmingham in the 50's,
Pete 'discovered' The Beatles when he heard Sgt Peppers and from
then never looked back. Pete has presented 'BeatlesandBeyond' on
various Radio Stations since 1997. 'If the cap fits' was written in
the '90s about his experiences of bullying from a Sales Manager at
an Oil Company based in Birkenhead, but admits it can be related to
by anyone who has suffered from a bad personal experience. The song
was recorded in Lichfield, Staffs. Pete plays all 12 string & 6
string acoustic guitars, electric 6 string and electric bass
guitars, and sings. 'You My Dear' was written after literally lying
on a grassy bank and looking at clouds at Wookey Hole, Dorset - and
was completed after the passing of listener Pattie Brar, and his
Mother in Law Edna. The song was recorded live into a Sony digital
camera - hence the recording quality. Pete plays 12 string Acoustic
and sings
Max Fredericks Singer, songwriter, Max, has been performing his
blend of original material for the past 15 years, since the age of
16. In the year 2000, Max joined 'The Beatals', in some states
known also as 'The Fab Four', now renowned as one of the world's
leading Beatles cover bands. Max's latest venture is that of TV
music show host on Adelaide's weekly community TV programme, Level
31. Interviewing and performing with some of the country's top
musicians, Max is very much at home in front of the TV cameras.
Mike Ringler Born in New York City in 1953, Mike became a Beatles
fan the moment he heard their first releases on the radio. Now
married for 31 years, Mike's wife Rella and two (now very grown)
children, Seth 28 and Penina 37, were constantly surrounded by the
music of The Beatles, as well as all of his other favorite
bands. "Thanks To You" is Mike's tribute to his wife Rella. It was
written and recorded a few months before their 31st wedding
anniversary. Mike, a high school English teacher, actually wrote the
lyrics at school while his students were working independently on a
project and he found himself jotting down line after line of his
appreciation for his wife. Mike started out as a drummer at age 14,
and plays electric and acoustic guitar and bass as well. His vocal
range enables him to cover a broad spectrum of material, but he says
he always gets the biggest thrill from singing in his "John" voice.
Peter Lacey "... emerged at the end of the millennium from the
shadows of years of session work on the British scene with a sound
so melodically rich and sophisticated that he earned inevitable
comparisons to legends from the golden era of pop music, Brian
Wilson and Burt Bacharach in particular. Although such comparisons
are never fair and often misleading, Lacey certainly earned the
praise and distinction bestowed upon his music." - ALL MUSIC GUIDE
Turnball ACs In a music scene dominated by guitars, there's still
space for a diverse and experimental electronica scene. One of the
loudest and the best are The Turnbull AC's.The Turnbull AC's are
something of a rarity on the North East music scene. They have no
lead singer (but do use vocalists in the studio), no spiky haircuts
(well not intentionally) and produce a hybrid mix of electronica,
funk and indie rock. The group was born from the remnants of several
local bands. Aaron Swallow, keyboards and sequencer used to play
with The Royal Orbs; Alan Robson, guitar, was a member of Flask and
the final member to join, Steve Thompson, played bass with The
Psychedelic Breakfast. They didn't see they need for a drummer. The
name Turnbull AC's came from a gang that featured in the cult film
The Warriors, and there is a distinct 'gang-like' mentality within
the band and the belief that they're going to be making music and
releasing music on their terms.
Rick Todd "Canadian author, actor and musician Rick Todd has been on
the Toronto entertainment scene for over 20 years, peforming in
several films and commercials as well as providing voiceovers for
audio theatre and animated features. He also performs as DJ Richie
Dynamite at one the GTA's hottest clubs.Rick wrote "Leaving
Labrador" about life on the road during an East Coast tour of
Canada."
Rick Hardin Rick Hardin was born in Sonoma, California. He grew up
in a very musical family and remembers feeling right at home singing
in front of his church congregation when he was only three. Right
out of high school, driven and impassioned by music, Rick began to
seek out master singer/songwriters and musicians he admired. Some of
the artists he has worked or shared the stage with include, The
Bacon Brothers, Boys Gone Wild (with members of Vertical Horizon and
Stroke 9), Norton Buffalo, Bonnie Hayes (song writer for Bonnie
Rait), Eoin Harrington, Metallica, Carlos Santana and numerous local
acts
The Rivals: Formed in 1999 The Rivals first gig was Milleneum News
Years Eve, after that they spent the next few years gigging all
across London, recording as many demos as they could and even the
occasional appearance on Sky TV, a few years later and no deal on
the table the band called it quits and spent the next few years
drinking as much Jack Daniels together as they could manage, now
back together again the writing is better than ever and there about
to start gigging again, you can hear the new demos on the bands web
site www.myspace.com/georgeshaggdaz . The song Red Mole came about
from a decision to record something based around the idea of
Tomorrow Never Knows and was recorded back in 2002.
Jan Owen: Born and raised on Long Island, NY, Jan Owen knew he
wanted to become a musician after seeing The Beatles on the "Ed
Sullivan Show," and spent his teenage years performing with his
first band in a local exotic dancer lounge. (The gig with the
topless dancers ended when a TV repairman came to his family's house
and recognized him in front of his Dad.) He's a two-time Beatlefest
sound-alike contest winner, has appeared on Jimmy Fink's 92.3 K-Rock
radio show in NYC singing his originals and a Beatle song, been
interviewed by Kelly Quinn of Star 99 in Connecticut, and talked and
played live on Joe Daily's Morning Show on 92.1 Lite-FM in New York.
His performance at the Mohonk Mountain House in New York, for the
annual "Cousin Brucie Rocks Around the Clock" weekend, with the
legendary DJ and Beatles' friend, Bruce Morrow, has become a staple
of his gig schedule, and has led to Jan performing on the charity
telethon synonymous with Bruce Morrow, the annual Variety - The
Children's Charity. The tremendous response to that performance and
encouragement by his fellow performers, the audience, and the staff,
led Jan to focus on performing his incredible Beatles solo
performances and to add in his original compositions. 2005 marked
Jan's first appearance at the Cavern Club in Buenos Aires,
Argentina, where they nicknamed him, "Maestro!"
