DALE RANDALL
Fab Five w/Dale Randall - Liverpool UK
Most of our fans know that we have bulit a
solid working relationship with original BEATLES drummer PETE BEST.  But, not many know that Dale was the connecting rod to the start of this dream-come-true relationship with a Beatle!

Dale has been friends with lead guitarist Pat Hodson for years, and is as big a "BeatleFreak" as anyone!  When we earned a slot at BeatleWeek in Liverpool UK in 2006, Dale asked if he could be our 'road manager' ;^)  Who were we to say "no"?!

We gave him an official Fab Five
t-shirt to wear during our gigs.  During our (now legendary) backing gig for Joey Molland at The Cavern, 'some lady' spotted the shirt, and came up to Dale and asked if he was with us. Luckily, he was not embarrassed enough to deny it!

That lady was Teri Rousseau - US Tour Manager for the one and only Pete Best!

She said that Pete (and trusty brother Roag) were watching the show and were impressed.  They wanted to do a show with us on their next US Tour that fall!
(And, the fact that we were from "Liverpool New York" put us in even MORE good favor!)

Dale gave Teri the band's business card on the spot the rest as they say, is history.

A week after we came home, I received an e-mail from Teri asking to work on a show together...which ended up being the historic first visit of an actual member of The Beatles to sister-city Liverpool, NY USA on October 21, 2006!

Dale is also an accomplished bassist, guitarist and vocalist.  We've had the pleasure of him sitting in a couple of times when Joe or Charlie were unavailable.

THANK YOU, Dale...for playing a vitally important role with The Fab Five!!

2 Degrees From Eric Clapton

Eric Clapton & Joey BonamassaMy thanks to ardent Fab Five Follower of Fashion - STEVE SAURO for this picture  the news.

At a guitar show held in downtown Syracuse in 1996, I fell in love with the 1965 Hofner 'Beatle Bass' that I still play today.

The dealer selling the bass was nice enough to 'hold it' for me for an hour until I could come up with a down payment.  Luckily, I had my old pre-CBS Fender Twin guitar amp (w/ 1 speaker missing) in the car, as I wanted to sell it anyway.

So, as I started to haul this heavy amp from dealer to dealer, a young, tall, blonde guy came up to me, and asked if I was selling it.  I eloquently said, "Yeah".  He took a look at it, and offered me $400 CASH...which was double what I was expecting, considering it's condition.  Of course, I ran down to the collector selling the Hofner and made arrangements to pick it up the following week.

Would you believe - the guy who gave me the cash is the SAME tall, blonde guy in the picture above - jamming with the one and only ERIC CLAPTON??!!

World class blues guitarist (and Utica, NY native) JOE BONAMASSA gave me the seed money that started me on The Fab Five journey, before he hit 'the big time'.  Clapton made a surprise guest appearance during Joe's concert last week at Royal Albert Hall in London.  How about THAT?!

After a few months with my 'Hofner65', I came to find it was one of the LAST ones produced with "McCartney Specs"...not to mention it left the manufacturing lines the last week of April 1965 - the SAME WEEK I WAS BORN!  Is that density, or what??!!
